from an abyss

by Mahmoud on Apr.10, 2010, under Uncategorized

A man who taught many how to swim forced many to dive down to the bottom of a deep diving pool.
He used to throw something of our belongings, normally my father’s keys, and then send us to rescue it.
My brother and I went through this training.
My brother was much better than me at this drill.
Maybe I wasn’t even good at all in this exercises.
But I remember that I confessed myself of the unimportance of such extreme act for myself at lest… never to dive into pain if unneeded.

And now it is needed.
I’ll dive.
I’ll drawn a little.

For the thing I missed, for the thing I wanted, as an example of many I’ll sink myself to live. If it is written for me.

And I pray for help and guidance from the god.
And understanding and patience from these I love.

Best companion… #3(books of March so far -contd.-)

by Mahmoud on Mar.26, 2010, under Uncategorized

and again another book is done!
yes, I don’t have a lot to do in my life right now… but, hey, reading books is better than a lot of other things at least!

I finished “Just after sunset”.
and just after Just after sunset I think I’ll read at least one book for someone else beside Stephen King. that’s what I’m planning for now… but who knows maybe I’ll finish one more book by Steve. and I’ll post something about that later (I know most of you are not interested and why would you?! but again why are you reading my blog?! never mind I’m just kidding! keep reading and soon I’ll start uploading more important things).

I think maybe I’ll re-read Blaze by Stephen King before the closure of this month!
and at least one more fiction book! if you have a favorite please write a comment and share with me.

again I know a lot may put like that: “I don’t have a life” put… I’m optimistic to change to the better if the god wills.

Best companion… #2(books of March so far -contd.-)

by Mahmoud on Mar.24, 2010, under Uncategorized

Today I finished yet another book by “Steve”… it seems like this month Stephen’s novels favored month for me!
the book is Pet Sematary.

Pet Sematary by Stephen King

Pet Sematary by Stephen King

this one is really scary.

one of my favorite and scariest moments is the conversation between Ellie and Rachel Creed (the mother and daughter) after Louis sent them away… if you read the story you will know what I’m talking about!

by the way the movie (the first one) which not only adopted from this work but also which the screenplay was also written by King himself is very good and scared me a lot when I saw it -I was a kid then- but still is not as good as the movie and some of the details from the story are not mentioned in the film or some details are modified!

read this one!

now the other Stephen King’s book I’m up to read at the moment is the recent book of short stories:

Just after sunset

so far I finished 6 of the 15 stories. three of which finished yesterday in Starbucks!
I really was surprised by “Willa” the story is interesting.
I didn’t read this book before. unlike some other works like “Duma Key”, “The Dark Tower 1: The gunslinger” and some other books.
but this one is new for me except the story “.N” which I watched the online animation series of this story.
by the way “.N” is a personally special story for me.

I don’t know if I’ll continue with other titles from Stephen King in this month after finishing this book… maybe! but I’ll try some other genres and authors.
I think reading six books from first page to the last by the same author is at least a new record for me.

Best companion… #1(books of March so far)

by Mahmoud on Mar.22, 2010, under Uncategorized

As it is said in Arabic sayings and in a Poem by Al-Mutanabbi that a book is the best companion.
-p.s. I don’t know if there are other sayings like that with the same idea but in a different language, although I suppose so!-

I’m reading two type of works now and so far from the beginning of this month: mathematical related books specially about mathematical logic and algorithms and the second is fiction. mostly Stephen King’s! and I’ll write about “steve” later for those who think I’m obsessed about him and his work… of which there may be some truth, but that’s for later!

I’m sharing this info with whom might read these lines and maybe try to pick up on of these titles! but mostly it is for my self as a documentation of my progress… it is not to show off, after all it is worthless to show off about reading because it is not as nearly as good or interesting as writing.

starting with the fiction (I’ll write few words about each book):

finished:

1.

Duma Key by Stephen king

amazing work by Stephen King. I really enjoyed it and I even read this book more than once the last was in this month (read from page 1 to the last).
I bought this book as soon as it arrived to Jordan (the same week it was released to the markets). I read the first three pages of the hardcover and decided that I already was rewarded with more than what this book was priced for. the same experience with my first King’s work to read by me (Dark tower 1: the gunslinger). I loved this book from the “how to draw a picture I” page.

I really enjoyed the work. and in my opinion I would say about the work:
unpredictable events and story-knots.
great depth for all the main characters.
amazing combination of relations and events.
the storytelling rhythm is almost magical.
and the writing style is special and strong.

2.

Rage by Stephen King

interesting. I enjoyed reading the book.
I have some personal thoughts about the main ideas in the story… and I don’t appreciate such path or direction as the one lead by the events and the main characters… but it is my personal opinion.

I think it is a dark and violent artwork.
and it is a sad thing that a kid was inspired by this story to commit a similar crime as the one in the story (or the ones!) but again this kid in the story although fictional but scary and dangerous!
by the way this book is banned!

3.

Salems' lot by Stephen King

scary and fast-paced. good read. although I’m board of vampires right now!

I like the storytelling style… grabbing!

and it is not a very thick/big book compared to others of Stephan’s!

4.

UR

UR by Stephen King

easy to read. and fast to read too!
although it has this marketing purpose for Amazon and some products are advertised between the lines of the book or even boldly with the almost the price tags (actually in one place of the story it is true… he tells the actually price of the product from Amazon). but it didn’t annoy me… and it was kind of interesting.

the main idea is unbelievably beautiful… I wish if I can read unpublished works by my favorite authors… specially those Poe’s novels he mentioned :D very neat idea.

to be continued soon!

Reflection of emotions

by Mahmoud on Mar.16, 2010, under colorful stories

DaVinci said that you can find parts of any serious artist in his work.
I’m not an artist but I think you can see how I see things in some of my work such as:

darkness on darkness. and stuck alone in the land of the no-where!
